Backend Developer (Node.js)

We are looking for a Backend Developer who enjoys building services that other people can depend on. Behind every Upfynd page sits a stream of submissions, claims, votes, reviews and moderation decisions. You will design and run the Node.js services that handle all of it.

Why this role matters

Upfynd's rules only mean something if the backend enforces them. One vote per person, makers who cannot review their own products, and listings that go live only after human review are all things your APIs will guarantee every single day.

What your week looks like

• Design and build Node.js and Express APIs for submissions, claims, votes, reviews and moderation queues.
• Model data in MongoDB and keep queries fast as traffic and the catalogue grow.
• Add caching and background jobs for tasks like ranking updates, emails and image processing.
• Build safeguards against duplicate accounts, vote abuse and spam submissions.
• Integrate third-party services such as email, auth and storage safely.
• Write tests, add logging and monitoring, and help solve production issues.

You will do well here if you have

• 2-4 years building backend services with Node.js in production.
• Strong TypeScript or JavaScript and clear thinking about API design.
• Experience with MongoDB, plus working knowledge of at least one SQL database.
• Comfort with authentication, rate limiting and input validation.
• Experience with Redis or another caching layer.

Nice to have

• Experience with queues such as BullMQ.
• Familiarity with Docker and deploying on AWS or similar.
• Experience building moderation or admin tools.

Your first 30, 90 and 180 days

• 30 days: You understand how a submission travels from the form to a live listing and have shipped your first backend change.
• 90 days: You have shipped new APIs to production and added tests or monitoring where they were missing.
• 180 days: You own one or more core services and have made votes, reviews or submissions measurably faster or harder to abuse.

Where and how you will work

This is a full-time, onsite role at our office on the 11th floor of O-Hub, Infocity, Bhubaneswar. You will sit with the people you build with, which keeps decisions quick and conversations easy. Your everyday tools will include GitHub, Node.js, MongoDB, Redis and Docker.
