1 / 3Outline lets organisations and individuals set up their own VPN. A manager uses the Outline Manager app to create a server on a cloud provider in a few clicks, then shares access keys with users. It was developed by Jigsaw, part of Alphabet, and uses the Shadowsocks protocol, which is designed to get through internet censorship. Client apps exist for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. The software is free and open source. Journalists and newsrooms use it to give staff private access.
