Mermaid turns plain text into diagrams. Writers type a few lines of Markdown-like syntax, and flowcharts, sequence diagrams, Gantt charts, class diagrams and more render automatically, which keeps diagrams versionable in the same repo as the code. The open source library is built into GitHub, GitLab and many documentation tools. The mermaid.ai site adds an AI-assisted editor with text-to-chart and IDE plugins, sold as a paid plan.
