Mapzen was an open-source mapping company that built software and services around open geodata. Its projects included Pelias for geocoding and search, Valhalla for routing, Tangram for map rendering, and vector tiles built from OpenStreetMap. Developers used its hosted APIs to add maps, address search and directions to apps, or ran the open code themselves. The company wound down its hosted services, while the open-source projects continue under other maintainers. It remains a reference for anyone building a map stack from open parts.
