1 / 4CrowdSec reads server and application logs, spots malicious behaviour such as brute-force attempts and bans the offending IP addresses. Its twist is that users share those addresses, so one person's detection becomes everyone's blocklist. The engine is free and open source, built by a French company, and also offers curated blocklists for security operations centres. System administrators run it on web servers and firewalls as a crowd-powered intrusion prevention layer.
