beaconDB is an open geolocation database that maps Wi-Fi access points and cell towers to positions. It is meant as an alternative to Mozilla Location Services, which was retired, for software that needs to work out where a device is without GPS. The project is in development and publishes its data as public domain dumps. Linux distributions and privacy-minded projects can use it for positioning. Contributors can submit observations to improve coverage.
