Ruby on Rails is an open-source, full-stack web application framework written in Ruby. It follows the Model View Controller pattern and covers much of the everyday work of a web app. Rails renders HTML templates, updates databases, sends and receives emails, keeps live pages up to date over WebSockets, queues jobs for asynchronous work and stores uploads in the cloud. It also provides security protections against common attacks. It is free and open source.
