LocalAI is an open-source inference engine that runs LLMs, image generation, audio transcription and embeddings on your own hardware. It is aimed at developers who want local AI without a GPU requirement. It provides an OpenAI-compatible REST endpoint that can be swapped in as a drop-in replacement, and it supports more than 1,000 models including the LLaMA, Mistral and Phi families. Features include text-to-speech, speech-to-text, function calling, constrained grammar output and multi-modal support, all running locally. The project is free to use.
