About Kiva
Kiva is a nonprofit that lets people lend small amounts of money to borrowers around the world. Lenders browse profiles of entrepreneurs, students and farmers, choose whom to support and lend as little as twenty-five dollars. Local partner organisations make the loans, and repayments return to the lender's Kiva account, which can be lent again or withdrawn. The loans carry no interest for the lender, and the goal is access to credit for people that banks overlook. It runs as an online microfinance site.
