About Elgg
Elgg is an open-source social network engine and web framework for building social apps. Developers use it as a customizable CMS, so a social site can be shaped to fit a specific community. It is written in PHP and runs on MySQL, so teams already working with that stack can build on it directly. Because the source is open, organizations can adapt Elgg to their own needs.
