Briar is a free, open-source messenger built for situations where privacy and resilience matter, such as activism, journalism and areas with internet shutdowns. Messages travel peer to peer, directly between devices, instead of through a central server. It can sync over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or Tor, which lets it keep working when the internet is down. It is made for people who need secure messaging anywhere and cannot trust cloud services with their contacts or conversations.
