Bitcoin Core is the open-source software that validates the Bitcoin network's rules, stores its blockchain and includes a wallet. Running it makes a computer a full node: it downloads every block, checks each transaction itself and relays data to peers, so users do not have to trust someone else's server. A graphical wallet and an RPC interface let people send and receive bitcoin and build tools on top. The project is volunteer developed, with releases and documentation on bitcoincore.org.
