Appwrite is an open-source backend-as-a-service for web and mobile apps, offered as a self-hostable alternative to Firebase. It provides authentication with more than thirty OAuth providers, a document database with queries, file storage with image transformations, serverless functions, messaging and real-time APIs. Over fifteen client and server SDKs connect it to common languages. Developers use it to avoid writing backend code. It is free and has a large GitHub following.
